April 1-6th, 2020 at Land of the Medicine Buddha, Soquel, California.
During this Insight Yoga Silent Retreat, we will practice Yin/Yang yoga, Qigong, sitting/walking meditation, pranayama, as well as practices to connect with our deepest, truest heart. The intention will be to create the conditions for entering into our innate, abiding awareness of this life, just as it is, free from judgment. The Buddha’s teachings of mindfulness and compassion will be shared and will serve as the framework for which the retreat will be held.

*Immerse yourself into the peaceful world of ‘silence’ with supportive guidance and optional meeting with the instructors

*Practice and learn meditation, both seated and walking

* Daily Yin & Yang Yoga and Qigong sessions

*Three meals per day (vegetarian and locally-sourced)

Our time together will be supported by social silence and the towering redwoods that comprise the beautiful, natural setting of the Land of Medicine Buddha.

Stepping out of our daily routine and the busyness of our lives is a radically supportive act. When we take this step, we have the opportunity to allow the natural processes of the mind to unfold in an environment free of mundane distraction. Observing the unfolding process brings about valuable insights into the unconscious beliefs, opinions, thought patterns, and biases we hold.

Insight Yoga Silent Retreat

Insight Yoga Silent Retreat Itinerary:
We will arrive at Land of Medicine Buddha Between 4:00 and 6:00 pm to check-in and settle. Silent practice and teaching will run from 7:30 pm the night of April first, to the morning of April 6th. All guests will check out at 11:00 am on April 6th.

Below is the basic schedule that we will follow throughout the retreat with the exception of arrival and departure days. Morning and afternoon sessions will consist of movement, meditation, and inquiry practice, while the evening sessions will consist of teaching and meditation. An optional suggested practice schedule will also be given for those who would like more structure during free time.

Christie Pitko, E RYT-500, began practicing yoga in 2001, and since then, it has healed her spirit, ignited creativity, and encouraged her to take her time. She enjoys helping students stay curious about the inner landscape of their bodies and minds through yoga and meditation. Christie is grateful for all that she has learned from her teachers, Annie Carpenter, Richard Rosen, and Leah Gillman. Christie hosts multiple yoga retreats per year. She is on the faculty for the 200 hour teacher training program at Yoga Garden San Francisco. Christie believes in the power of daily meditation.

Journey Into Mindfulness

September 18 – 20, 2020

A 3-day retreat designed for you to replenish & restore

Join Landra Eliopoulos for a three day Journey Into Mindfulness Retreat located at the Land of Medicine Buddha, nestled in the heart of Northern California in the Santa Cruz mountains. This retreat takes place in the Fall season, which is a significant time of year to transition into slowing down. Creating an intentional pause at the beginning of the Fall season provides the perfect opportunity to release tension, replenish energy, and restore equanimity in our lives.

The Practice

Whether you are new to the practice of mindfulness or have been practicing for a while this retreat is designed for you. No prior mindfulness experience is needed. My style is educational, practical and compassionate. It’s my hope that you leave the retreat feeling relaxed and rejuvenated + having learned mindfulness tools that you can incorporate into your daily life.

Our time together will be a mix of guided meditation (seated, reclined or walking), mindful movement (yoga asana poses practiced at an intentional pace with modifications offered). In the evening I will lead you through restorative poses designed to aid in resting, digesting and preparing the body for deep relaxation.  We will practice mindfulness through contemplation, journaling, and moments to practice mindful listening and speaking. Option (not required, though recommended) to deepen your mindfulness experience by holding periods of silence and/or unplugging from technology.

The Accommodations

Main campus lodging options include single, double, and triple rooms. All rooms include a private bathroom with shower. Towel and linens are provided.

Yurt lodging (Note: Yurts are located at a campground space ½ mile from the main campus. The road is not paved and you will need to carry your own luggage to the site). Each yurt is furnished with a full sized futon and one single bed. Each yurt has electricity and the beds come with a heated mattress cover. Towel and linens are provided. In the center of the campsite is a central building with a small kitchen and two bathrooms which include toilets and showers.

The Meals

All meals are delicious and healthy (speaking from my personal experience) vegetarian meals are made with mostly organic produce. The menus are inspired by the season. The chefs prepare thoughtful meals that offer guests a gratifying and nutritional dining experience. Friday evening includes dinner, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday. Sunday includes breakfast, with the option to stay for lunch.

The dining room is open to overnight guests 24 hours a day and includes indoor and outdoor spaces for meals. Filtered drinking water, hot water, tea, coffee and fresh fruit is always available. A refrigerator and microwave are available for guests to use.

Our weekend retreat includes:

There will be an abundance of leisure time to use as you like; enjoy activities like hiking, swimming, napping, lounging, etc…

There is an option to book a massage with local therapists (extra cost).

Check in begins at 4:00pm on Friday Sept. 18th, 2020 | The retreat begins with mindfulness practice at 5:00pm, followed by dinner, time to settle in, become acquainted with the property, and concludes with an evening restorative practice.
