Writer Yogis & Yogis Writing: Unleashing your Creative Blocks & Tapping into your Authentic Voice
October 4th (Saturday), 2014 (1 day retreat: 8a.m.-5p.m.)
Santa Cruz (Soquel), California (Land of Medicine Buddha)
We all know that feeling of being ‘in the zone,’ when we’re feeling completely immersed in the present moment and tapped into a sort of ‘tunnel vision’ of creative force. It feels like something bigger than us is coming through and playing, writing, moving, creating through us. This space in which we feel ‘in the flow’ is a place that is accessed through the subconscious mind. This is not a place we can ‘will’ ourselves into being. Creative blocks are simply us ‘getting in our own way’ and trying to force and create from the conscious mind.
On this retreat, Amber & Liza will deliver the best of what they know, sharing years of study and experience to bring you tools for writing from the body. This retreat will be a symphony of breath work, body work, asana, visualization, play, and release techniques, guided by Amber, encouraging you towards your most authentic voice.
Beyond the mat you will be guided by the author of the memoir The Marriage Act: The Risk I Took To Keep My Best Friend in America And What It Taught Us About Love and the novel Mexican High. Liza has also practiced yoga for over ten years. Her depth and knowledge in her field will give you practical tools for writing and support for finally moving towards completing your own novel, personal essay, creative nonfiction work, or piece in any form and genre you’re working in.
All are welcome. This retreat will be beneficial for experienced writers to the newbie wanting to learn more. New yogis or advanced practitioners are welcome. This will also be great for someone just feeling ‘stuck energy’ in their life and could use the space to do some soul searching, release, and gain renewal and clarity.
